Fitness Tips: Watch the Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons push a 725-pound weight sled

On The Big Bang Theory, actor Jim Parsons plays the scrawny nerd Sheldon Cooper, who feels more at home in laboratories and libraries than next to weight racks.

But in the gym, he likes to think of himself as more like JJ Watt, one of his favorite athletes. No, Parsons isn’t a 6’6”, 290-pound beast like the Houston Texans defensive superstar. But in an interview on the Dan Patrick Show last Friday, Parsons, a Houston native, revealed how he’s a bit of a fitness freak like Watt these days.

For starters, the 145-pound Parsons told Patrick that he’s a regular at his gym spin class and he can perform eight “solid” reps of the bench press with 50-pound dumbbells. But Parsons was especially proud of the impressive video he recently posted to Instagram (below), in which he pushes a 725-pound weight sled—with his trainer standing on top.

“I don’t really do much very good in the gym,” Parsons told Patrick. “But for some reason I have this workman like aspect of me, I suppose, that can push heavy weight. That’s not that heavy for everybody, but for me, that’s very heavy.”

Hey, it’s more than a lot of guys can do, man. Good work.

Unfortunately, you might not see Parsons pushing in a gym near you anytime soon. Over the weekend the actor pictured a picture of his newly fractured toe.

I may not be pushing a sled for a few weeks,” he wrote.
