The Ghana Football Association will go to the polls in 2019 when the tenure of the FIFA Normalisation Committee put in place to run Ghana football expires.

Several names have popped up as the rightful replacement for Kwesi Nyantakyi who sat on the hot seat of Ghana football for 13 years, before he was ousted in June last year for his involvement in the Number 12 scandal.

George Afriyie, who served as the deputy vice president of Nyantakyi in his last term in office has been tipped by Abdul Salam Yakubu as the best person to replace his former boss.

“George Akwasi Afriyie is ahead of all persons who have popped up for the GFA Presidential race," he told Germany-based Topical Radio.

According to him, the mere fact that Mr. Afriyie is not making ‘noise’ in the media and also making incessant donations does not mean he’s asleep and doing nothing momentous to ensure he occupies the vacant Ghana FA top seat.

‘’The fact that he’s not talking on radio or making donations does not mean he is not working. He will come out at the right time.‘’

‘’What is written is written. When the elections are conducted today, he George will win hands down to come and continue the good works of Kwesi Nyantakyi.’’

George Afriyie has several years of experience in Ghana football, having served as the CEO of both All Blacks and Accra Great Olympics.

He is currently a director of Danso based Liberty Professionals and he is the owner of division one league side Okyeman Planners.
