A Scottish escort convicted of taking a 14-year-old boy's virginity in a Florida hotel room for £399 has been ordered to sign the sex offenders register for seven years.

Sarah McGill, 28, was convicted in June of sexual activity with a male child at the Courtyard Marriott in Orlando, after he paid her for sex.

McGill, originally from Selkirkshire, had been travelling across the country when the youth found her details on her online escort page.

She was arrested on April 6 and found guilty of lewd or lascivious battery, known as statutory rape in the UK, but spared jail in the US and handed a probation order instead.

McGill returned to the UK earlier this week, where she was made to sign the sex offenders register after a hearing at Uxbridge Magistrates Court.

On Friday, Detective Constable Natalie Allgood of the Met's Jigsaw unit, which monitors sex offenders, applied for McGill to be made subject to notification requirements.

Detective Constable Natalie Allgood told the court: 'There was a conviction that would have been a relevant offence in a country outside the U.K.'

The court heard McGill, who did not attend today's hearing, was 'not objecting' to the application to put her on the register.

Magistrate Lyn Green made her the subject of notification requirements for seven years commencing June 18 this year - the date of her conviction.

Ms Green said: 'This is a notification for a seven-year period.'

McGill, currently of no fixed abode, must notify police of her address and other addresses where she stays regularly, and also if she is living with anyone under the age of 18.

She was arrested after the boy's father discovered what had happened and phoned police.

McGill - who uses the escort name 'Sophia Belle' - was arrested on September 1 while trying to fly back to Britain from Orlando International Airport over a probation breach.

She was then deported back to Britain after spending time in Glades County Detention Centre in Moore Haven, Florida.

An American immigration official said she was 'removed to her home country.'

Today's hearing was listed as an 'application or a notification order on the ground that you have been convicted of a relevant offence, namely Sexual activity with a male child under 16.'
